2005 FRIENDSHIP CUP

Last year on July 25, 2005 we raised over $90,00 in profit. We were able to make contributions to several dedicated and respected organizations all sharing an ongoing committment to improving the education and lives of Deaf children. These organizations included:

  • The Rhode Island School for the Deaf, Providence, RI
  • EDCO Program for Deaf Chuldren, Newton, MA
  • The Learning Center for Deaf Children, Framingham, MA
  • Sacred Heart Church for the Deaf, Newton, MA
  • Easter Seals National Office (Endowment for the Deaf)
  • National Education of Assistance Dog Services (NEADS)

We have also initiated communication among several southeastern Deaf schools and have established a Friendship Cup Activity Program. Some of the past and current events include:

  • An evening with Jim Craig, 1980 Gold Medal Champion
In October 2005, Jim gave a heartfelt motivational speech to over 300 Deaf students, families and staff members. Photography Associates provided instant photos with the participants and Mr. Craig and all enjoyed the hit movie "Miracle on Ice". Big thanks to Jim Craig as well as Rick and Helene Pace.
  • Providence Bruins Event
Middle school students from RI School for the Deaf, EDCO of Newton and The Learning Center were able to enjoy an action packed night with the Providence Bruins. Special thanks to Ed Anderson and Seacoast Sports.
  • Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science. Middle and High School students participated in joint field trips where they able to socialize while actively learning in this spectacular Boston resource.
  • Mentor Day
In April, a Mentoring Program will kick off as high school students from EDCO Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Newton, MA) will spend a "hands on" day with various volunteer mentors from business, educational, and non-profit settings. More updates to come.
